The movie Looper was a great movie for all sci fi buffs, especially those interested in time travel. In this Looper Movie Review we will take a look at the plot and acting of the cast. The plat was well written and the movie keeps you guessing about what is next to come.
Loopers are actually assassins that are paid to track down and kill leaders of criminal organizations. They send those that they want killed to the past, where loopers kill them at a specific time. In the future, the assassins are paid with silver bars once they kill their targets.
Looper is a 2012 American science fiction action film written and directed by Rian Johnson. The film stars Bruce Willis, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Emily Blunt. In Looper, time travel is invented by the year 2074 and, though immediately outlawed, is used by criminal organizations to send those they want killed into the past where they are killed by "loopers", assassins paid with silver bars strapped to their targets. Joe, a looper, encounters himself when his older self is sent back in time to be killed.
Looper Movie Review Issues
I did have some problems with the Looper movie that did effect my review which was, although I felt it was written pretty well for the most part, the biggest problem is everything wasn't explained. By the end of the movie, all the stuff they sent you guessing about and anticipating answers for, was never completely answered. And that just seems lazy or like the writers weren't clever enough to make everything make sense.
Looper Movie Review - What I Would Do
If I were a writer for this movie I would have done so many things differently. I would have played so much with the idea of time travel that every time you watch the movie, you would have a different conclusion.
Looper Movie Review - Problem With Sci Fi Movies
The problem with sci fi movies, I don't really like, is that the writers often assume individuals are so stupid that they don't want to lose them, so they don't challenge you enough or give you enough information. They try to keep things simple. Sci fi is meant to be challenging. If I don't feel challenged after watching a movie like the Looper, like I was with "The Sixth Sense."
Looper Movie Review - Overall
Overall I still have to give the movie Looper a thumbs up. It was really good and entertaining.
Looper was selected as the opening film of the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival. It was released to positive reviews in Australia on September 27, 2012, and in the US and the UK on September 28, 2012 by TriStar Pictures and Alliance Films.
I advise that anyone interested in viewing the movie Looper check it out. I give the movie Looper a good review ultimately and I would definitely watch it again!
