Repressing Your Emotions Has Consequences

Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue,  Back, shoulder, neck, knee pain, tendonitis, sciatica, whiplash, RSI, Carpal Tunnel, Eczema, psoriasis, hives, rashes etc, Repetitive cough, undiagnosed chest pain, palpitations, high or low blood pressure, hyperventilation or shortness of breath, Abdominal pain, Ulcer symptoms, stomach pain, Nausea, vomiting, IBS, colitis, spastic colon, Hiatus hernia, heartburn, acid reflux, Constipation, diarrhoea.
The majority of people who have any of the above symptoms will find it hard to believe that their pain has anything whatsoever to do with stress and emotions.

Dr Sarno – the original pioneer of this work tells us that we all have emotions in our unconscious mind that have been repressed.  When it looks like these emotions might erupt into our conscious mind our unconscious mind gives us pain instead to divert us.

He says  rage/anger can be one of those repressed emotions.  There is also sadness, guilt and much more
Dr. Sarno tells his patients that our “overflowing beaker” of rage is made up of three components: 1/3 childhood, 1/3 current stressors, and 1/3 our personality.

In terms of personality set out here are some traits which can make you susceptable to pain and other illness.  Examples are perfectionists, goodists, conscientious, self critical, competitive, reliable, driven, analytical, low self esteem, need to be liked.

In 1918 psychiatrist Henry Maudsley said ” The sorrow which has no vent in tears may make other organs weep”.  Nearly a hundred years later and we still don’t have this knowledge as part of main stream medicine.
